Australian cricketers Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne were seen confronting a spectator on day 3 of the fifth Oval Test. Both teams are fighting hard to win the fifth Test and have different incentives for the same.
If Australia win the Oval Test they will win an Ashes series in England for the first time in 22 years. Meanwhile, England will avoid an Ashes series loss if they win the fifth Test.
On day 3, while the Australian players were returning to the pavilion after the end of the day’s play, a spectator was seen saying “boring” in the ears of the Australian players. Khawaja and Marnus decided to confront the spectator after seeing him repeatedly bullying their teammates.

Not quite the MCC Long Room at Lords. But @marnus3cricket and @Uz_Khawaja clearly not happy with this Englishman at the end of a frustrating day 3 for the Aussies! #boring #Ashes #ENGvsAUS pic.twitter.com/i0m5wM8bUY

Khawaja told the man to “calm down”, while Labuschagne asked him, “What did you say? What did you say, mate? You’re just about to go at everyone else.”

During the Lord’s Test, three members of the Lord’s long room were suspended after they were hurling abuses at the Australian players on day five of the second Ashes Test. During the shameful incident, Khawaja was held back by security staff after confronting one of the members, while umpire Chris Gaffaney was also forced to intervene.
Cricket Australia confirmed team management had requested the MCC to investigate “several incidents involving spectators in the members area”.
“It is alleged players and staff from the Australian team were verbally abused, with some being physically contacted as they made their way to lunch through the members area,” CA said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the fifth Test is nicely poised with England setting a target of 384 runs for Australia in the fourth innings. The Oval Test will also be the last for Stuart Broad who has decided to retire from Test cricket after the end of the Test match. He retires from Test cricket as England’s second-highest wicket-taker in the format.
