AUS vs NED: Revealed- Why Australian Players Are Wearing Black Armbands vs Netherlands

Australia and the Netherlands are clashing with each other in match 24 of the ICC World Cup 2023. The clash is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and it’ll be an extremely crucial match for both the teams, considering their positions in the points table.

The Aussies won the toss and opted to bat first. What caught the attention of many was the black armbands worn by the Pat Cummins-led side. Many have been wondering about why the five-time champions are wearing the armbands in the ongoing match.

The reason behind that has now finally been revealed. Cricket Australia released the official statement and revealed that players are wearing black armbands in respect of Australian cricketer Fawad Ahmed and his family following their loss this week.

Fawad Ahmed lost his four-month-old son recently. His son was unwell and was admitted to hospital in Melbourne. The cricketer and his wife welcomed their son in June 2023.

Coming to the ICC World Cup 2023, The Aussies are currently placed 4th on the points table. They have suffered two disappointing losses against India and South Africa. However, they made a great comeback as they thumped Sri Lanka and Pakistan. They would be desperate for a win in Delhi. Netherlands on the other hand have played quality cricket in the last few games. They defeated South Africa recently and would be hoping for another win.
