AUS vs NED: Sybrand Engelbrecht Effects A Sensational Direct Hit To Remove Cameron Green (Watch Video)

Sybrand Engelbrecht exhibited a brilliant fielding effort in the ongoing match 24 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia. The match is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the Dutch side have been nothing short of brilliant on the field. 

After the carnage by the Australian top order, they lost wickets in the middle phase. Cameron was looking to make a mark but his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Sybrand Engelbrecht, who produced a magnificent effort in the field. 

It happened during the third ball of the 43rd over when Roelof van der Merwe bowled a short ball for Glenn Maxwell. The batter knocked it towards mid-wicket and they tried to steal the second run. Sybrand Engelbrecht got quickly to the ball and fired a brilliant direct hit at the non-striker’s end. 

Cameron Green was well short of his crease as Netherland removed the batter for just 8 runs. It was an important wicket for the Dutch side at that time as the all-rounder was looking in good touch.

Cameron Green had a great opportunity to stake his claim in the Australian XI but he couldn’t. The all-rounder replaced injured Marcus Stoinis in the team but didn’t capitalize on the opportunity he got. It’s fair to say that he had to make way for Stoinis straightway if he’s fit for the next match.

AUS vs NED: After Cameron Green’s wicket, Glenn Maxwell Takes Netherlands bowlers to cleaners 

Glenn Maxwell came out to the bat with an attacking mindset. He showed no mercy on Netherlands bowlers and smashed them all over the park. The batter smashed a brutal century and surpassed Aiden Markram to record the fastest century of the ICC World Cup 2023. 

Glenn Maxwell batted with a strike rate of over 240 and ended with the knock of 106 runs off 44 balls. His brutal knock in the end powered Australia to a gigantic total of 399 runs. Apart from him, David Warner also smashed century. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne also chipped in with vital half-centuries.
