The Australia cricket team entered the record books after their glorious outing against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023. The Pat Cummins-led side became the first team to register 350+ scores in three consecutive games in ODI history.

Australia were in a brutal mood in the ongoing match 27th of the ICC World Cup 2023 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. They were put into bat first and proved New Zealand’s decision to bowl first poor as they came out with an attacking mindset.

Travis Head (109) and David Warner (81) made a mockery of the threatening New Zealand bowling lineup. They ripped them apart and added a 175-run partnership inside the 20 overs. After their wickets, Australia’s middle order couldn’t get going as the Kiwis made a strong comeback with Glenn Phillips picking three wickets.

But the lower-order batting clicked quite well and made sure that Australia ended with a big total. Glenn Maxwell (41), Jos Inglis (38), and Pat Cummins (37) played brutal cameos at the end that powered Australia to the gigantic total of 388 runs on the board.

Australia had a staggering outing in the game against the Netherlands as well. They smashed 399 runs against them in Delhi and won the game by a massive margin. Before that, the Aussies had hit 367 runs against Pakistan in Bengaluru. This has been the first time they have registered 350+ scores in three consecutive ODIs.

AUS vs NZ: The boys will come with their plans – Travis Head on whether Australia can defend the target

Travis Head returned from injury after one month and he made sure that he set the stage on fire. He scored a staggering century and ended with the knock of 109 runs off 67 balls.

He talked about his innings and said that he took his chances and planned to make the innings big. He was also optimistic that Australian bowlers would defend the target. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

“Back playing (pleased me the most), nice to be back with the boys. nice to contribute, nice to be back. It (hand) is going well, went well today, we are on track which is nice. Very good wicket, Davey and I forged that partnership, we tried to put as much pressure as we can, we were able to get away today, take our chances and then also go on and make a really big partnership to set that platform. 388 is a really good score. I felt, at the back end of my innings, it started to take a little bit more spin. They bowled really well, changed their pace. The boys will come with their plans, hopefully we can execute them really well,” he concluded.
