Former Australia allrounder Shane Watson has heaped praise on David Warner for adjusting his game to play according to the situation. His comments came after the left-handed batsman played another impressive knock with the bat in the ongoing match against New Zealand at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
After New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first, David Warner and comeback man Travis Head gave their team a solid start with the bat. The duo fired on all cylinders right from the start to lay the foundation for a big total. While David Warner scored a 28-ball fifty, Head reached his fifty in just 25 balls to register the fastest fifty of the ongoing World Cup.
David Warner finally departed after scoring 81 runs. His knock came off 65 balls and was studded with 5 fours and 6 sixes. And as the Australia opener impressed once again, Shane Watson heaped praise on him for playing as per the situation. He also mentioned Virat Kohli’s name for playing according to the situation.
“David Warner has changed his tempo and game very well according to the situation. Virat Kohli, who got so many runs and Hundreds on his back, has an excellent ability to change gears at the right time,” Shane Watson told Star Sports.

Unlike his opening partner, Head made the most of the start and went on to score his 4th ODI ton. The left-handed batter reached the milestone in just 59 balls. He eventually departed for 109 runs off 67 balls. Head smashed 10 fours and 7 sixes during his knock. Riding on their openers’ brilliant display, Australia finished their innings on a mammoth total of 388 runs.
David Warner in the World Cup so far:
David Warner did not start his campaign in the best of manners. He scored 41 and 13 in the first two games as Australia suffered defeats against India and South Africa. In the third game, Australia beat Sri Lanka but Warner managed only 11 runs.
But he has been in stunning form since then. In the fourth game against Pakistan, he scored 163 before scoring 104 against the Netherlands.
