Auckland is all set to host the AUS vs NZ second T20I on Friday, February 23. The match starts from 11.40 am IST with New Zealand facing a must-win situation. Australia won the first T20I by six wickets.

Australia led by Mitchell Marsh scored 216 to win the first T20I off the final match of the match. The Aussies needed 16 to win off the final ball with Tim David hitting the winning runs. Marsh was unbeaten on 72 off 44 deliveries and David scored an unbeaten 31 off 10 balls.

Earlier in the game, New Zealand won the toss and piled up 215/3 themselves with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra scoring fifties and Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman playing important cameos. Little did they know that Australia would manage to overhaul the target.

Heading into the AUS vs NZ second T20I, Marsh leads the Aussies while Santner leads the Kiwis. Trent Boult will replace Tim Southee in the squad. How the two teams shape up their playing XI will be an interesting observation. The bowlers from both teams went on the journey and they will need to adjust to the conditions as well.

Both teams have a couple of players out with injury concerns. Kane Williamson is not a part of the New Zealand side as he is out on parental leave. Daryl Mitchell (foot injury) and Michael Bracewell (finger injury) are the other key players missing. Australia are missing Marcus Stoinis (back injury) and his replacement Aaron Hardie (calf injury).

AUS vs NZ 2nd T20I Weather Report

The AUS vs NZ second T20I starts from 11.40 am IST which is 7.10 pm local time. The temperature during the day will be around 24-25 degrees with almost 80 percent chance of rain. There is rain prediction in the afternoon as well. However, the weather conditions will be mainly clear in the evening as per Accuweather. The humidity will be around 80 percent.

Pitch Analysis

The Auckland track also uses drop-in pitches like the one in Wellington. There were as many as 30 sixes hit in the first T20I and if the pitch conditions remain anything close to what it was in Wellington, we should be in for a treat. The AUS vs NZ second T20I is shaping up to be another high-scoring contest.

Weather Impact On The Game

As per Accuweather, there is an 80 percent chance of rain in Auckland in the morning and the afternoon. Thus there is plenty of rain expected during the daytime which might mean a delayed start if that is the chase. In case the groundsmen cannot prepare the ground on time for the game, it might mean a deduction of overs as well. In case overs are reduced, the chasing team will have an advantage with the DLS coming into play.

Conclusion

The AUS vs NZ second T20I will be played in Auckland on February 23. It is a must-win game for the Kiwis and must be a fascinating contest. A win for NZ will set up the decider on February 25 at the same venue. The two teams then play a two-match Test series with the first Test in Wellington and the second in Christchurch.
