Ahead of the 3rd and final test between Australia and Pakistan at the historical Sydney Cricket Ground, a backpack of David Warner containing his Baggy Green Cap went missing from his luggage during their transit from Melbourne to Sydney for Warner’s curtain call farewell test match.

His father Howard Warner expressed his anger on the same and said that it is something very personal and emotional for him. He demanded the backpack to be given back to David Warner and angrily called whoever that was a “Scumbag” for stealing his son’s national team caps days before his final appearance in whites.

Warner’s father further claimed that someone had deliberately removed it from his luggage and said that the caps would come out from somewhere in the dumps before stating that there was nothing to be done about this matter.

“Whatever scumbag has taken it is going to have to lay it off very shortly. They’ll find it dumped somewhere. I know he’s emotional. He would love to walk out with that baggy green on but if he can’t, he can’t. What can you do?” – an angry Howard Warner said.

David Warner Makes Public Plea To Have His Baggy Greens Returned

Yesterday, David Warner had to take it to Instagram and upload a video of him expressing his connection to the backpack and to the Baggy Green cap inside it. He said that the investigation from the hotel he stayed in Melbourne was carried out but no one was seen entering his room. Warner also said that Qantas is working very closely with him to find out the culprit.

In that video, David was holding another Australian backpack which he said would give to the person who stole it without that said person going through any repercussions. That particular backpack did not just contain the caps but it also consisted of the presents and gifts from the daughters of David Warner.

The 37-year-old further expressed his sentiments about the backpack and gave assurance that whoever took it, will not get into trouble if they return it themselves.

“Unfortunately, someone has taken my backpack out of my actual luggage, which had my backpack and my girls’ presents in there [and] inside this backpack was my baggy greens. It’s sentimental to me, it’s something I would love to have back in my hands walking out there come this week. If it is the backpack you really wanted, I have a spare one here. You won’t get into trouble.” – David Warner said via Instagram.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Lends Support To David Warner

In light of this incident, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in a press conference came out to support David Warner in finding out where his baggy greens are. He reminded everyone that Warner has over 100 Test caps for Australia and he has earned them based on merit before requesting it to be given back.

“Whoever knows anything about the missing caps, David Warner has represented Australia on more than 100 occasions and the baggy green caps belong to him. He has earned them and they should be returned.”
