Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir gave interesting replies on being asked about India’s biggest threat in the upcoming T20 World Cup. “Afghanistan, in those conditions can be very very dangerous. Australia, because they have got impact players, and England because they play T20 cricket the way it should be played,” Gautam Gambhir said.

“I have a different angle. I think South Africa should win. They have not won a white-ball tournament. The way I saw their progress in the 50-over World Cup and obviously Pakistan who are very dangerous,” Yuvraj Singh said.

“See Pakistan, their fielding is, I saw in the 50-over World Cup, probably the worst in international cricket. They will have to literally pull their socks up if they really want to compete in the T20 format,” Gautam Gambhir added.

“The number of finals that India have reached…I don’t think Pakistan have reached anywhere close to the number of finals that India has reached in the last five or six years. And you are just one step away from the trophy. hopefully, the T20 World Cup could be one.”

India has always dominated Pakistan in ICC events winning more trophies than Pakistan. India has five ICC trophies to their name and Pakistan has three. India won the ODI World Cup twice, the T20 World Cup once and the Champions Trophy twice (shared with Sri Lanka in 2002-03). Meanwhile, Pakistan has won all three titles once. Both nations are yet to win the ICC World Test Championship. India has twice reached the finals of WTC and Pakistan is yet to play a final in the red-ball format.

Gautam Gambhir talking about Pakistan’s fielding being the worst is not a dishonest statement as we have seen a lot of instances where the main cause of Pakistan’s defeat is their below-average fielding. Dropping catches, silly misfields and a lethargic attitude as a fielder have cost the Men In Green a lot of matches. They have always struggled on the fielding front no matter how good their bowling or batting might be.

Pakistan is currently facing Australia in the Benaud-Qadir trophy and Australia is leading the three-match Test series by 1-0 with the second Test currently going on in the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, India is facing South Africa in a two-match Test series and the first Test is going on at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
