Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan cricket team’s director, reportedly missed his flight from Melbourne to Sydney ahead of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Pakistan have already conceded the three-match series after losing the first two Tests. Australia thrashed the visitors by 360 runs in the first Test before winning the second Test in Melbourne by 79 runs to clinch the series with a match remaining. The defeats have only extended Pakistan’s terrible Test record in Australia.

They have now lost 16 Tests in a row in Australia and have not won a game in the country since 1995. Mohammad Hafeez will be desperately hoping that Pakistan end their long wait for a Test win in Australia in the upcoming Test in Sydney, scheduled to start on January 3. While the series is already lost, a win against the reigning World Test Championship champions will boost the confidence of the Pakistan team.

Mohammad Hafeez misses flight to Sydney:

Just before the start of the third Test, Mohammad Hafeez found himself in an embarrassing situation after missing his flight to Sydney. According to reports, the former Pakistan captain missed the flight because he was busy drinking coffee. He was set to leave for Sydney with the Pakistan team but had to miss the flight.

According to reports in Pakistani media, Mohammad Hafeez as well as his wife were not allowed to board the flight after the delay. They had to take another flight. The development comes just a few days after reports stated that Mohammad Hafeez has introduced stricter rules for players to increase their professionalism. He has reportedly introduced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a zero-tolerance policy on inactivity, including a $500 fine for players caught sleeping in the dressing room.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez recently raised several eyebrows by saying that Pakistan lost the second Test despite playing better cricket than Australia.

“We played better cricket as a team. I’m proud of that. The way the team had the courage to attack this game in the best possible way. If I sum up the game, the Pakistan team played better than the other team in general,” Hafeez said after the game.

“Our batting intent was better, and while bowling, we were hitting the right areas. Yes, we made some mistakes that cost us the game but as a team I believe that there were a lot of positives, enough to win the game but unfortunately at the end we didn’t win the game,” he added.
