The premier Pakistan National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi has equaled the massive record of his father-in-law Shahid Afridi in the ICC Cricket World Cups.

Shaheen Afridi was the pick of bowlers for Babar Azam-led side in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20. The left-arm quick delivered a brilliant spell when all the other bowlers were taken to cleaners.

After being invited to bat first, Australia were off to a stupendous start in the match as openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh played an attacking brand of cricket. The duo launched an attack on the Pakistan bowlers and converted their good starts into massive scores.

Both Warner and Marsh batted brilliantly and completed their spectacular centuries to frustrate the opposition. They added 259 runs in 203 balls to lay the foundation for a 400-plus total.

Shaheen Afridi helped Pakistan make a sensational comeback in the match by picking the first wicket for the side. He started off by removing Mitchell Marsh for 121 and then didn’t let the Australians breathe.

Shaheen Afridi went on to pick four more wickets to complete his 5-wicket haul as he dismissed Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Also, Haris Rauf and Usama Mir chipped in with crucial wickets to make sure Australia didn’t cross the 400-run mark. The Aussies were restricted to 367/9.

Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi equaled a massive record of Shahid Afridi as he bagged a 5-wicket haul. He equaled his father-in-law Shahid Afridi’s record for the most fifers for Pakistan in World Cups as both of them have 2 5-wicket hauls in World Cups.

Shaheen also equaled the massive record of Mitchell Starc following his bowling brilliance. He equaled the record for the most wickets by a fast bowler after 48 ODIs. He has taken 95 wickets in 48 ODI matches same as Mitchell Starc did earlier.
