Pat Cummins, on Friday (December 29), led Australia to a series-clinching win over Pakistan in the ongoing three-match series. The hosts beat Pakistan by 79 runs in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to clinch the series with a match to go. Australia had won the first Test by 360 runs.
The right-arm pacer also achieved an incredible milestone as he reached 250 wickets in Tests. And Pat Cummins did it by controversially dismissing Mohammad Rizwan. The incident took place in the 61st over of Pakistan’s second innings.
Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman had steadied the ship for Pakistan and the partnership between them was worth more than fifty runs before the former departed. On the fourth ball of the over, Pat Cummins bowled a short delivery and Mohammad Rizwan took his eyes off the ball at the last moment. While he tried to take his bat out of the line, the ball seemed to have hit something on its way to the wicketkeeper.
Pat Cummins and his teammates appealed for a caught behind but the on-field umpire gave his decision in the favour of the batsman. The Australian camp, however, was convinced that Rizwan had edged the ball and they decided to review the decision.
The replays later showed that the ball had touched the glove on its way to the wicketkeeper. The third umpire overturned the original decision and adjudged the batter out. Rizwan, however, was not at all impressed with the ball and was seen venting his frustration. He was also not willing to leave the field before he eventually walked off.

Pat Cummins leads Australia to series win:
Pat Cummins led his side from the very front in the second Test as he picked up five-wicket hauls in both the innings. The pacer picked up 5 for 48 in the first innings before taking 5 for 49 runs in the second innings. Thanks to the 10-wicket haul in the game, he has also entered the top ten of most wickets for Australia in Tests. Among active Australia pacers, only Mitchell Starc has more wickets than him in Tests.
Talking about the game, Pakistan were all out for 237 runs while chasing 317 runs. Captain Shan Masood and Agha Salman scored fifties but their efforts were not enough to Pakistan to register their first Test win in Australia since 1995.
