The Australian vice-captain Steve Smith has started 2023 with a brilliant century against South Africa in the third and final Test of the three-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday, January 5. Steve Smith scored his 30th Test century and surpassed Sir Donald Bradman to become the joint third-highest century-scorer for his country.

Bradman scored 29 Test centuries for the Aussies in 52 Test matches, while Smith surpassed his tally in 92 Tests. The 33-year-old is now joint third in the list of most centuries for Australia in Test matches with former opening batsman Matthew Hayden. Former captains Ricky Ponting (41) and Steve Waugh (32) are ahead of him.
