Cricket Australia (CA) have announced limited-overs squads for the upcoming home series against England. Fast bowler Mahli Beardman has earned a recall to both squads after impressing during the recent Australia A tour of India and is in contention to make his ODI debut this month.
The team will face England in three ODIs on November 13, 15 and 18 in Perth, Adelaide and Hobart, followed by five T20Is. The Pat Cummins-led team recently played a three-match Test series against South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, and lost 1-2 after winning the opening Test.
Cricket Australia Announce Squads for Home Series against England
Mahli Beardman has been included in both squads. The Western Australian pacer impressed during the 50-over tour of India, where his pace troubled a strong India A batting line-up. He played a T20I in January 2026 and is yet to make his ODI debut.
Chair of selectors George Bailey spoke about Beardman's inclusion and said the selectors believe he can develop into an all-format player over the coming years.
"Mahli Beardman's recent performances for Australia A were impressive and we are incredibly excited for his return to the national team across the ODI and T20 formats. We think he can continue to develop into an all-format player across the coming years," Bailey said.
Bailey also highlighted Liam Scott's progress and the opportunities the England series will provide to players who have featured on recent tours.
"These ODI and T20 matches provide several players, many of whom have had opportunities on recent tours, with a great chance to further demonstrate their ability against very strong opposition," Bailey explained.
"Liam Scott returns to the ODI squad and we are excited by the fact he learns from each opportunity and have seen him grow his game on the back of strong performances over the past 12-18 months," the chief selector added.
Maiden T20I call-ups for Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper
The five-match T20I series will feature maiden international opportunities for wicketkeeper-batters Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper. Shaw earned his place after impressing on the recent India tour and in the Big Bash League. He has also been appointed captain of New South Wales' 50-over side at 23.
Sam Harper has also earned recognition after being named in the national Test squad for the South Africa tour. The Melbourne Stars wicketkeeper-batter is the reigning BBL Player of the Season and spent the winter playing franchise cricket overseas.
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mitchell Owen have also returned to the T20I squad. Fraser-McGurk last represented the national side in July 2025, but has produced strong domestic form for South Australia this season. Owen returns after missing the T20 World Cup and the Bangladesh tour.
The selectors have opted against selecting Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood for the ODI series. The pace trio played all three Tests in South Africa and will receive a short de-load period before beginning preparations for the home Test series against New Zealand.
Billy Stanlake is also unavailable while recovering from a side strain sustained during the Zimbabwe tour. Aaron Hardie, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, Riley Meredith and Matthew Kuhnemann have also missed out on selection.
