AUS vs SL: Watch - David Warner Takes Spectacular Catch To Dismiss Kusal Mendis

The 36-year-old Australia National Cricket Team player David Warner pulled off a spectacular catch to dismiss the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team captain Kusal Mendis in the 14th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Monday, October 16.

The wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis is the designated vice-captain of Team Sri Lanka and he has been forced to take over the leadership role after skipper Dasun Shanaka got ruled out of the entire competition due to a quad injury.

Balapuwaduge Kusal Gimhan Mendis has been in red-hot form in the ongoing World Cup as he amassed 76 and 122 runs in his first two matches. Unfortunately, he finished on the losing side in both of those matches.

Mendi, however, failed to perform with the bat on his World Cup debut as captain. He scored just 9 runs off 13 balls, before being dismissed by leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the 28th over.

On the last ball of the over, the leggie bowled a flighted delivery on off-stump and Mendis saw the opportunity to go for a boundary and played a slog sweep.

He wasn???t able to get a four or six as David Warner ran 24 meters across from deep midwicket and completed a stunning diving catch. He tumbled but held on to the ball to make sure the Lankan skipper was back in the dugout.
