Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood playfully shooed Cameron Green during the second and final Test match against the West Indies. Josh Hazlewood made the gesture while celebrating the dismissal of Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite in the opening session of Day 1.

Australia picked an unchanged playing XI for the final match in Brisbane on Thursday, January 25. Cameron Green was included in the team despite testing positive for the virus before the match. Green was cleared to play in the match as per Cricket Australia protocols.

Australian bowlers troubled the West Indies batters with disciplined bowling, particularly with the new ball. Kraigg Brathwaite continued to struggle with his batting in the series and fell to Hazlewood. The Windies opener managed to score just four runs off 25 balls.

Brathwaite edged a delivery from Josh Hazlewood to wicketkeeper Alex Carey in the 8th over of the first session. Cameron Green, who is currently COVID-19 positive, adhered to social distancing protocols and maintained a safe distance during the team’s celebrations.

Josh Hazlewood humorously gestured to shoo Green away during the celebration. Green maintained a safe distance and engaged in an ‘air fist bump’ with Hazlewood. Cricket Australia captured the lighthearted moment and shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter).

Travis Head Tests Positive For COVID-19 After First Test Match

The infection within the Australian team began with Travis Head contracting the virus after the Adelaide Test. One day ahead of the second Test of the ongoing series, both Cameron Green and Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald tested positive for COVID-19.

While Travis Head has tested negative, Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald are still undergoing the complete recovery process from the infection. Despite being deemed fit to play, Green observed social distancing during the national anthem and maintained a separate stance a few feet away from the rest of the team during play.

Cricket Australia had previously indicated that both Green and McDonald will take part in the Gabba Test, provided their health conditions do not prevent their involvement in the longer format of the game.

“Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald will be separated from the group until they return a negative test. It will not hinder Green taking part in or McDonald attending the match in line with CA protocols,” Cricket Australia said.
