Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody shared his perspective leading up to the ICC World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia in Ahmedabad. Tom Moody emphasized that it is unusual for an Australian team to be considered the underdog in the final match.

The Pat Cummins-led team is scheduled to face the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team in the World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, November 19. The Aussie team suffered a six-wicket loss when they last played against the hosts in the league stage.

All Pressure Is On India To Deliver – Tom Moody

Tom Moody took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to suggest that the pressure is on India to deliver in front of a massive crowd of 130,000 fans. Moody expressed excitement, predicting a sensational final between the two cricketing giants.

“It’s not often that you associate the underdog tag with an Australian side, I feel this would sit comfortably. All pressure is on India to deliver their high-octane game on the big stage in front of 130k adoring fans. We’re in for a sensational final that’s for sure!” Moody tweeted.

The Men in Blue remain unbeaten in the World Cup, securing 10 victories in the tournament. The Australian team initially suffered two consecutive losses against India and South Africa but rebounded with eight consecutive victories, including a victory in the semi-finals.

Sunday’s Final Will Be The Toughest – Tom Moody

The former Australian cricketer highlighted the impressive achievement of the Australian cricket team, reaching their 8th World Cup Final. He expressed that the final against India would be the toughest in their World Cup Final history.

“8th World Cup Final for the Australian team, a remarkable record. Sunday’s final will be the toughest of them all,” Moody wrote.

Allan Border led the national team to its first-ever World Cup title in 1987. Steve Waugh secured the victory in 1999, followed by Ricky Ponting in 2003 and 2007, and Michael Clarke in 2015. Australia’s last World Cup final loss occurred in 1996 against Sri Lanka.
