Australia women's cricket team captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2024-25 Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season due to a knee injury. Alyssa Healy remains doubtful for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the India women's cricket team on home soil.
The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has struggled with injuries throughout the WBBL 2024-25 season and played just four of the Sydney Sixers' seven matches. Healy did not take on wicketkeeping duties in her most recent match against the Brisbane Heat in Sydney on Thursday, November 14.

Alyssa Healy will miss the remainder of the WBBL 2024-25 season due to a left knee injury. The Sydney Sixers confirmed this through a statement on social media, revealing that she will not participate in the team's upcoming matches.

Australia's Home ODI Series Against India to Commence on December 5
Australia’s home series against India is set to commence on December 5, just days after the WBBL final. The injury is not considered serious, and Healy is expected to be fit for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, beginning on December 19, as well as for the women’s Ashes in January 2025.
Australia's squad for the upcoming series against India will be announced in about a week. Healy will be closely monitored for her recovery from a knee injury. If Healy is unavailable for the selection, vice-captain Tahlia McGrath will step in as the captain.
The Australian skipper had a challenging WBBL season, managing only 20 runs in four matches, with just one score in double figures. The Sydney Sixers, who is currently sixth on the points table, will face the top-ranked Sydney Thunder on November 17.
I Want To Be Available For As Much As I Can - Alyssa Healy
Australia captain Alyssa Healy suffered a foot injury during the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup, missing the final group match and semi-final match.
Healy expressed her commitment to playing as much as possible in the upcoming season. She highlighted that the injury's impact on her ability to play would require careful monitoring throughout the season.
"There are higher powers sitting above that are quite vocal in what can and can't happen, which I completely understand. Being skipper as well is a fairly big role for me. I want to be available for as much of the summer as I can," Healy had said of her injury earlier via ESPN Cricinfo.
"I've hardly played a game for the Sixers for the past two seasons, and it's a place I really enjoy playing cricket. I want to be available for every game that I possibly can, but the reality is that might not be the case. It's going to be managing the pain, function and what I can and can't do [all summer]. How I pull up from games is going to be really important as well."
