Australia will be eyeing a winning start to their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 when they lock horns against England. It will be the second game of Group B and the fourth game of the tournament. The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday (February 22) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The reigning world champions will have their task cut out in the Champions Trophy as they will be without several key players. They will miss the services of their captain Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Mitch Marsh, Josh Hazlewood (all injured) as well as Mitchell Starc for the tournament.

Australia are still one of the contenders to win the Champions Trophy and will look to start their campaign with a win. So as they gear up for their tournament opener, we are taking a look at the Australia Playing 11 for the AUS vs ENG game.

Australia Playing 11 vs England- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Match 4:

Openers: Matt Short, Travis Head

Matt Short and Travis Head are set to be the openers in the Australia Playing 11 for the upcoming contest against England. With pitches in Pakistan unlikely to assist spinners as much as they did in Sri Lanka, Short and Head will be fancying their chances of doing well.

Head has done well in Asian conditions in recent times and he will be one of Australia's most important players. The onus will be on the left-handed batsman to give his team a good start with the bat. In the second ODI against Sri Lanka, he was out for 18 and will look to make amends.

Short did not have a good outing in the second ODI either as he was out for 2. The conditions in Pakistan will be better for batting and Short would look to deliver with the bat.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Steve Smith (c), Josh Inglis (wk), Aaron Hardie, Glenn Maxwell

Jake Fraser-McGurk is also expected to be a part of the Australia Playing 11. While he usually opens the innings, he is likely to bat at number three, like he did in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. The youngster impressed with his batting in the IPL last year and will be keen to show his ability in his first-ever ICC competition.

Captain Steve Smith will be keen to lead his team from the front in Pat Cummins' absence. Smith thrives under pressure and he will be looking to lead his team's charge with the bat.

Josh Inglis got the start in the second ODI but could not convert it into a big score. He was out for 22 runs and will be looking to bounce back. Before the ODI series, Inglis scored a century on his Test debut in Galle and will be backing himself to do well in Pakistan as well.

Aaron Hardie and Glenn Maxwell are set to be the two all-rounders in the Aussie lineup. Two-time World Cup winner Maxwell loves to deliver at the big stage and Australia will be hoping that he does not disappoint in the upcoming contest.

Bowlers: Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson

With the likes of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc unavailable, the Aussies will have a new-look bowling lineup. Nathan Ellis, Sean Abbott, and Spencer Johnson are likely to be the three pacers in the Aussie Playing 11 while Adam Zampa is set to lead the spin attack.
