Australia Playing 11 vs South Africa- 1st T20I, South Africa Tour of Australia 2025:
Openers: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head
Australia would be high on confidence following their 5-0 T20I series win against the West Indies and would like to replicate the same performance in the three-match T20I series against South Africa at home.
The Aussies have also made a few notable changes to their lineup, which includes the return of Travis Head at the top of the order.
Head's return would mean that Glenn Maxwell, who opened the batting against the West Indies, will play in the middle order, which provides a good balance to the team.
Travis Head's return also means that Cooper Connolly misses out on a spot in the squad after a few handy performances in the Caribbean.
On the bowling front, Josh Hazlewood has returned to Australia's T20I setup after a while and will feature in the playing XI for the first game.
Other than that, the hosts are expected to retain the same combination that they played in the T20I series against the West Indies, with the home side opening the batting with captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.
Marsh would like to prolong the start he has been getting in the recent past in order to lead from the front in the upcoming game.
On the other hand would wish to continue the good form he showed in the Test series against the West Indies.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Josh Inglis (wk), Cameron Green, Tim David, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Owen
The opening duo will be followed by a middle order that comprises attacking batters like Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Tim David, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Owen.
The entire middle order is known to play aggressively right from the first ball and can clear the boundary with ease.
Glenn Maxwell's addition in the middle order makes it even stronger, as it already had Tim David, who is coming on the back of a breathtaking century against the West Indies.
The duo will be supported by Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, who provide stability to the team while batting at number three and four, and will look to do the same in the first match against South Africa.
Bowlers: Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
Like the batting, the team's bowling has been boosted by the addition of experienced fast bowler Josh Hazlewood.
Hazlewood brings much-needed experience with him, which will come in handy, especially while bowling in the first six overs, an area which was a cause of concern for Australia in the last series.
Hazlewood will be assisted by Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis, both of whom bowled well against the West Indies and would like to build on it in the opening match of the series against South Africa.
The spin bowling department will be handled by Adam Zampa, with Glen Maxwell chipping in with an over or two.
