India will face Australia in the second of the three-match ODI series. This article provides details about Australia's Playing 11 vs India for the second match of the series.
Australia Playing XI vs India- 2nd ODI, India Tour of Australia 2025:
Openers: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head
Kangaroos would like to earn back-to-back wins in the ongoing ODI series against India and take an unassailable lead in the three-match series when the two teams go head-to-head in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval.
The captain and the team management would be impressed with the professional manner in which the Aussies went about things in the opening game.
The home team would want to replicate the same performance in the upcoming game, but for a much longer duration.
Aussies would open the batting with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, both of whom are known to play an attacking brand of cricket at the top of the order and would look to do the same in the next match.
Having said that, Travis Head was dismissed in an attempt to play in an attacking manner in the first ODI, so it would be interesting to see if he continues to play similarly in Adelaide.
Head's opening partner and Australia's captain, Mitchell Marsh, played a sensible knock in the previous match after the team lost a couple of wickets early in pursuit of a below-par total, and would want to keep up the good work.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Matthew Short, Josh Philippe (wk), Matthew Renshaw, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen
The opening duo will be followed by a middle order that has a new look to it after the retirement of a few senior players.
Despite the middle order being relatively inexperienced, it did a fine job with the likes of Josh Philippe and Matt Renshaw, ensuring that the defending ODI World Cup winners didn't undergo a collapse.
Other than Philippe and Renshaw, the team would also hope for Owen and Connolly to get some time in the middle.
However, the onus will be on the top five batters to score the majority of the runs.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Hazlewood
The host would be elated with their bowling performance in the first ODI and would want the bowlers to do more of the same in the second game of the three-match series.
Like he does on most occasions, Starc will take the new ball for Australia and will be partnered by Josh Hazlewood, who has been in good form in the recent past and would wish to carry that into the next game.
Starc and Hazlewood will be assisted by Nathan Ellis and fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who will play a crucial role for Australia while batting at number six or seven, along with bowling a few overs as and when needed.
If we talk about the spin bowling department, it will be handled by Matthew Kuhnemann, who earned a lot of praise for his bowling at the backend of the innings in the last match.
