Australia Women announce their 14-member squad for the one-off Test against South Africa
Australia Women and South Africa Women will play a one-off Test against each other at the WACA Ground in Perth commencing on February 15, Thursday. This is the first Test match between both nations in Women’s Cricket and Australia has named its squad for the historic Test match against South Africa. Australia is hosting South Africa Women’s team for a multi-format tour and the hosts have already won the T20I series 2-1 against the visitors.
The three-match ODI series between the two sides is currently leveled 1-1 with the series decider in progress where Australia is batting first. After the third ODI, the one-off Test will be the only game left in this tour and that is scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 15.
Australia Women have announced a 14-member squad for the Test match against South Africa Women and they are looking to win this Test match after their recent defeat against India in the Test match.
Alyssa Healy has been named the captain of the Australian side with Tahila McGrath serving as her deputy. The team has also called back Sophie Molineux who returned to the side after 2021.
South Africa Women announced their squad before Australia and six players received their maiden Test call-up. They are in high spirits after beating Australia in ODIs for the first time during the second ODI which was played at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney.
This will be the first time for both sides in Test cricket and it will be a historic moment for both teams as they face each other for the first time in the longest format.
Australia Women lost their last Test match against India Women in a one-off Test encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India Women defeated Australia by eight wickets in the one-off Test which was played in December 2023.

South Africa Women played their last Test match against England Women back in 2022 and the match ended in a draw with Marizanne Kapp emerging as a hero for the Proteas as she smashed a wonderful century in the first innings scoring 150 and then remained unbeaten in the second innings with 43 runs to her name. She was also South Africa’s hero during the second ODI where South Africa defeated Australia for the first time in Women’s ODIs.
Australia Women and South Africa Women are currently playing in the third ODI of the series which is a decider match. Australia women have scored 277/9 in their 50 overs and now South Africa needs to chase 278 to win the series.
Skipper Alyssa Healy scored 60 while Beth Mooney remained unbeaten on 82 to take the score to 277 against South Africa. For South African women, Masabata Klaas took a four-fer and helped to restrict Australia under 300. If the South Africa Women’s team wins the third ODI against Australia Women, it will be their first-ever series win in Australia.
