Ayush Mhatre Captain, Vaibhav Suryavanshi Opener- BCCI Announces India Under 19 squad for England tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (May 22) announced the 16-member India Under-19 squad for the upcoming England tour. IPL 2025 sensations Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have been named in the squad for the England tour.

Ayush Mhatre, who plays for Chennai Super Kings, has been named India Under-19 captain for the England tour, while Abhigyan Kundu will be his deputy on the tour. The Indian team is all set to play a five-match Youth One-Day series and two multi-day matches against England Under-19.

Apart from Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Chennai Super Kings rising talent Ayush Mhatre, some talented batters across the country made the cut to the squad for the upcoming tour of England. However, some of them have the first-class and List-A experience.

The India Under-19 team’s batting lineup features Ayush Mhatre, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and left-handed batter Abhigyan Kundu. Apart from the trio, the junior selection committee has picked Vihaan Malhotra, a stylish left-handed opening batter hailing from Patiala, Maulyarajsinh Chavda, who is a right-handed top-order batter from Gandhinagar and right-handed batter Rahul Kumar, with 6 List-A and FC matches of experience.

Saurashtra’s right-handed batter and wicketkeeper Harvansh Singh also made the cut to the squad. Tamil Nadu all-rounder R S Ambrish, Haryana all-rounder Kanishk Chouhan, and Punjab all-rounder Anmoljeet Singh (off-spinner) are in the all-rounder department.

India picks strong spin-pace combo for England tour

India’s Under-19 team’s spin attack has the left-arm spinner Khilan Patel and the leg-spinner from Kerala, Mohamed Enaan, while the pace attack features Maharashtra pacer Henil Patel, Bengal pacer Yudhajit Guha, Tamil Nadu seamer Pranav Raghavendra, and Aditya Rana, a medium pacer from Uttarakhand, for the upcoming England tour.

BCCI said in an official media release, “The Junior Cricket Committee has picked India’s U19 for the upcoming tour of England, scheduled from June 24 to July 23, 2025. The tour comprises a 50-over warm-up match, followed by a five-match Youth One-Day series and two multi-day matches against England U19.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI has also released the schedule for the upcoming India Under-19 tour of England, which is set to take place from June 24 to July 23. The tour begins with a 50-over warm-up match on June 24 at Loughborough University.

This month-long tour is expected to be a significant opportunity for India’s rising stars to adapt to English conditions and gain valuable international exposure. Notably, India’s A and senior teams will also travel to England for their respective assignments in late May and June.
