Ayush Mhatre joins Suryakumar Yadav's team after CSK heroics

The third edition of the T20 Mumbai League is set for an action-packed return from May 26 to June 8 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and the buzz has already begun with some eye-catching buys at the players’ auction on Wednesday, May 7.
Young stars Musheer Khan, Ayush Mhatre, Tanush Kotian, Suryansh Shedge, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were the hot picks at the players' auction, with franchises placing big bets on their potential.
Young guns, including Ayush Mhatre steal the show at T20 Mumbai League Auction
Punjab Kings’ rising all-rounder Musheer Khan was snapped up by Arcs Andheri for INR15 lakh, while Suryansh Shedge, who is also part of the same franchise, was picked by Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast for INR13.75 lakh at the auction.

Adding more firepower to the Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast’s squad, the promising 17-year-old batting sensation Ayush Mhatre, who made his IPL debut with the Chennai Super Kings this season, was secured for an INR 14.75 lakh deal with Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast.
India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast’s icon player, and he will lead the side in the T20 Mumbai League. He was also seen at the auction table on Wednesday, as the Mumbai Indians’ next IPL 2025 clash is scheduled on May 11 against the PBKS.
Ayush Mhatre, who has been playing for CSK in IPL 2025, was signed in Suryakumar's team. Triumph Knights Mumbai NorthEast bought Ayush Mhatre for 14.75 Lakhs. Ayush Mhatre has taken IPL 2025 by storm with scintillating knocks.
In the game against RCB, Ayush Mhatre scored 95 runs and brought CSK close to a win.
Tanush Kotian and Angkrish Raghuvanshi seal a big deal
Meanwhile, North Mumbai Panthers snapped up Tanush Kotian for INR 10 Lakh at the player's auction for the upcoming T20 Mumbai League 2025. On the other hand, SoBo Mumbai Falcons signed Kolkata Knight Riders’ young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi for INR 14 lakh.
With Atharva Ankolekar snapped up for INR 16.25 lakh by Eagle Thane Strikers, around 280 players went under the hammer at the auction in Mumbai on Wednesday. The T20 Mumbai League 2025 is all set to be a blockbuster edition, with eight marquee players signed as icon picks ahead of the auction.
The elite list includes Indian internationals and domestic heavyweights like Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shreyas Iyer to add experience, star power, and local pride to each franchise.

Indian players agreed to participate in the T20 Mumbai League
On the other hand, each of the eight franchises has a purse of INR 1 crore and must spend a minimum of INR 80 lakh. Every team must build a squad of at least 18 players, including at least four senior players (base price INR5 lakh), five emerging players (INR3 lakh), and five development players (INR2 lakh). Eight icon players signed for INR 20 lakh each.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik stated, “The Indian players from Mumbai have agreed to participate in the T20 Mumbai League, which will bring a lot of inspiration and energy to our emerging players to prove themselves on the larger platform.”
He added, “The eight teams will shortlist the players along with those who are in our system from the senior selection committee, U-23, and U-19 teams for the auction. The pool will be of around 400 players. But it will be important to have at least one player from U-19 in the playing XI, and the squad strength will be 18 players.”
