After a short break during the England Test series, the Pakistan cricket team and fans were hoping that Babar Azam would make a strong comeback on the Australia tour, and even though he showed some glimpses, the former skipper could not handle spin precisely.

Australia and Pakistan are currently facing each other in the three-match ODI series opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne. Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to field first, and Pakistan had a terrible start, losing opener Saim Ayub for just 1 run in the third over of the match.

Babar Azam falls short again as Pakistan struggles in 1st ODI against Australia

After getting rid of Saim Ayub, Mitchell Starc removed the Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique for just 12 runs to put them immense under pressure in the ongoing first ODI at the MCG. Well, yet again, all hopes were pinned on Babar Azam to deliver, having returned fresh from the break.

However, the right-handed batter started quite well but could not capitalize on his start against Australia at the MCG. Adam Zampa struck a major blow in his first over, taking the crucial wicket of Babar.

Babar misjudged the length of the delivery and opted to stay back, only to be caught off guard by a ball that skidded on and perhaps kept a bit low.

Babar needed to approach Zampa's delivery from the front foot, but he tried to flick it and left the door wide open for the ball to crash into the off stump. A significant blow for Pakistan as Babar departed after scoring 37 runs off 44 balls, including four boundaries.

Following his wicket, Pakistani fans have been slamming Babar for his approach and shot selection while some are pocking fun at the star batter on social media after another flop show on social media. His struggle against leg-spin is well known to all, but fans are calling out Babar for not showing any improvement as he could not even read the ripper from Zampa properly.

Here's how fans trolling Babar Azam for another flop batting show:

Pakistan found itself on the spot against Australia at MCG

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team has found itself in serious danger, as they have already taken six wickets for just 117 runs despite playing ODI cricket like Tests. Pakistan’s newly-appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan couldn’t also make a significant impact with the bat, falling for 44 runs.

Marnus Labuschagne dismissed Mohammad Rizwan, who was caught by Josh Inglis after a top edge. Rizwan misplayed the fullish googly while attempting another sweep, sending the ball high into the air. Inglis quickly moved towards square leg and took an easy catch.

This wicket was a significant blow for Pakistan, while Labuschagne celebrated the big wicket joyfully, clapping and smiling as soon as he saw the ball go up, and he ran off excitedly after the catch was completed. Rizwan returned back to the pavilion after scoring 44 runs off 71 balls, with the help of two fours and one six against Australia in the ongoing first ODI at the MCG.
