'Babar Azam hasn't won a single match, show him the mirror' - Mohammad Hafeez launches brutal attack

Mohammad Hafeez launched a scathing attack on Babar Azam after yet another dismal batting performance in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Babar Azam edged Hardik Pandya’s outside-off delivery behind the wickets to KL Rahul and walked back to the pavilion for 23 off 26 balls in the India-Pakistan clash in Dubai on Sunday (February 23).

After Pakistan’s 6-wicket loss to India in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group match on Sunday, Mohammad Hafeez turned heads with his fiery take on Babar’s performances in high-pressure games, especially against India on the global stage.

The former Pakistan cricket team director pointed out that legends like Shoaib Akhtar, Younis Khan, and Shoaib Malik have left lasting memories with their match-winning performances against their arch-rivals, but Babar has yet to deliver a big performance for the country.

Hafeez didn’t stop there, as the former captain also highlighted Babar has never been the Player of the Series in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia despite playing international cricket for the last 10 years across the formats.

Mohammad Hafeez said on PTV Sports: “Babar Azam is a good product of Pakistan, and he is a good player, but tell me about his one Player of the Match performance against India. We always remember Shoaib Akhtar’s performances against India.

Younis Khan is a big name when we talk about India-Pakistan matches. Shoaib Malik has also given significant performances against India. Tell me one standout performance by Babar, who has been playing for the last 10 years, against India.”

The former all-rounder stressed that Pakistan cannot continue relying on players like Babar who fail to step up when it matters most. Hafeez also mentioned the flop players will again become heroes during the Pakistan Super League, but it’s time for a reality check and called for fresh faces to at least save Pakistan cricket.

Hafeez further added, “He is not Inzamam-ul-Haq. Inzi Bhai used to win matches for Pakistan in all difficult conditions. Babar has not won a single match against India to date. He has been playing for the past 10 years but has never been Player of the Series in SENA countries.

We need to show him the mirror and realize that the players we are banking on are not delivering. It’s time to move on and give opportunities to those waiting in the system.”

Babar Azam becomes fastest Pakistani to 1000 runs in the ICC ODI tournaments

Meanwhile, Babar might have been going through a rough patch, but he etched his name in history by becoming the fastest Pakistani batter to score 1000 runs in ICC ODI tournaments. He reached this milestone in the recent CT 2025 match against India.

With this achievement, Babar joined the elite company of Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad as only the third Pakistan batter to cross 1000 runs in the ODI ICC events. Babar surpassed Anwar to become the fastest Pakistani batter to achieve this feat.

Anwar took 25 innings to achieve the feat, while the right-handed batter took 24 innings. Miandad is at the third spot with 30 innings to reach the 1000-run mark in ICC ODI tournaments.
