Babar Azam set to be kicked out of Pakistan Team, claims Shoaib Akhtar

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team pacer Shoaib Akhtar came up with a massive statement for Babar Azam. He said that the batter needs to be dominant in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Otherwise, the path will be very difficult for him.

Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar has been under the massive scanner for the last few months. The premier batter has failed to deliver for his team in all three formats of the game and this has also seen him facing a lot of criticism from several fans as well as pundits.

Babar Azam has failed consistently to score runs for Pakistan across formats

Babar, who is considered one of the best batters to have played for Pakistan, has failed consistently and hasn't made a lasting impact for the team. His poor performances have been one of the main reasons behind the poor performances of the Pakistan National Cricket Team across formats.

Babar recently got dropped from the Test team and wasn't part of the squad for the last two games against the England National Cricket Team. This came after his underwhelming performances in the longest format of the game over the last few years, where he averaged around 20.

Babar Azam then made a comeback in the white-ball series against the Australia National Cricket Team. He didn't get much opportunity to bat in the ODI series but failed terribly in the T20I series as he registered low scores in all three games.

With Babar struggling to get going, Shoaib Akhtar said that although he backs the team's batter the right-hander needs to understand that new management won't consider him for T20I and even in the ODIs. Speaking on the TV channel, he explained:

"He's our star, I back him up, but the thing is, with the new management, with the new mindset, he has to create a neurological wiring, he has to change it, that now the new management will not consider him in T20, even for that matter of fact, even in one day."

Shoaib Akhtar further mentioned that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be the place for Babar Azam to reclaim his stature. He stressed that batter needs to dominate the tournament and hit three match-winning tons. He explained:

"The Champions Trophy is the time and the place where Babar needs to be on the forefront for me, for Pakistan. He should dominate and say, I have three hundreds in Champions Trophy and those are match-winning. If he does this, then he'll come back. Otherwise, the path is going to be very difficult for him."
