Babar Azam slit; accused of favouritism, creating drama, funding PR agencies and fooling Pakistan by Ahmed Shehzad

Former Pakistan player Ahmed Shehzad has made a scathing attack on Babar Azam, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the Pakistan team for fooling Pakistani fans. Ahmed Shehzad has claimed that the sad stories about players after a big defeat are only made to gain sympathy from fans. 

Ahmed Shehzad’s words come after Pakistan's recent defeat against India in ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan lost to India by 6 runs in a low-scoring encounter. The Babar Azam & Co. failed to chase down a 120-run target in the match in New York. 

Babar Azam didn't let anyone become a team- Ahmed Shehzad 

During a show on Pakistan news channel Geo News, former Pakistan all-rounder Ahmed Shehzad attacked Babar Azam for his poor decisions that led to Pakistan’s defeat against India in the match. 

“You have been leading the team for the past 5 years. You don't have a single middle-order batsman. You don't have a single all-rounder. You didn't let anyone become a team. You only wanted a team. Sorry, excuse my word”, the 32-year-old said. 

 “You only wanted a team. A team where you play 15 overs from the top, and they come from the bottom,  close their eyes, and keep hitting. Is this how a team was made?  No”, he further added.

Ahmed Shehzad attacks Babar Azam and PCB for fooling Pakistan fans

Ahmed Shehzad, who represented Pakistan from 2009 to 2019, also added that the Pakistan Cricket Board has hired agencies who create sad stories about players to gain the sympathy of fans. 
 
“You have ruined the whole thing. And after that, what do you do?  You have kept agencies. You make strategies with them, that when you lose, they say, Babar Azam started jumping from the bed. Shadab didn't eat for 4 days. He didn't go shopping. He is not answering anyone's phone”, he further said. 

Shehzad also added that such stories are just dramas and only formed to fool Pakistani fans. 

“These are all dramas.  You are making people fool.  The team agencies that they have kept,  they do these things. They do this for sympathy.  So, listen to me”. Watch the complete video below.

India crush Pakistan to win two games in ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Talking about the India vs Pakistan game, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Men-In-Green bundled out India for just 119-10 in 19 overs with Rishabh Pant hitting the most 42 runs. However, Pakistan's batters failed to chase down the target later. 

Opener Mohammad Rizwan played a decent knock of 31 as an opener. However, the rest of the batters could not cross the 15-run mark. Jasprit Bumrah picked a 3-wicket haul while other bowlers showed classic teamwork to reduce Pakistan to 113-7 till the final over.

Hardik Pandya got 2 wickets, Axar Patel got 1 wicket, while Arshdeep Singh picked 1 wicket. Other than Arshdeep Singh (7.80), all the six Indian bowlers had an economy of less than 6. 

India has won two games out of two in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.  They earlier crushed Ireland by 8 wickets. Pakistan has lost both of their games so far, losing to the United States in their opening game.
