Pakistan announced a 15-member squad for their tour to Bangladesh. In the Newly assembled squad, Shaheen Afridi is assigned as the skipper, experienced keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan also finds his place in the squad, but there is no room for Babar Azam and Saim Ayub.

The exclusion of Babar Azam from the team has become the headline as soon as the full squad list was published on social media platforms. It is believed that the decision to eject Babar Azam from the team is based on his recent performances in the white-ball tournaments. The batting star, who was once the centerpiece of the team, performed poorly in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Babar Azam and Saim Ayub are not named in the squad to face Bangladesh in ODIs

As soon as Pakistan was eliminated from the tournament before reaching the semi-finals, it was reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), headed by Mohsin Naqvi, is all set to take major steps to reform the team.

Several reports claimed that Babar Azam was uncertain in the team as well. Though, Babar Azam's ejection from the One-Day International team came as a shocker for many. In the ongoing T20 World Cup, the right-handed batter managed to score only 91 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 112.34.

PCB named multiple uncapped cricketers in the fresh squad

Along with Babar, Saim Ayub was also left behind by the team. Like the experienced batter, the emerging all-rounder also failed to perform according to expectations in the T20 World Cup 2026.

The latest ODI team of Pakistan has multiple uncapped cricketers, which shows the selectors' intention to create a set of players for the future. Among the uncapped players, Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Saad Masood, and Shamyl Hussain were recently part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad that competed against England Lions in Abu Dhabi. The series was cancelled with three ODIs remaining because of the regional tensions.

The team will depart for Dhaka on March 9 with all three ODIs scheduled at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. The first ODI of the series will be hosted on March 11, and the second and third ODI fixtures will be on March 13, and March 15, respectively.
