Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is expected to miss the upcoming series against Australia and South Africa due to an ankle injury sustained against Bangladesh during the ICC World Cup 2023. Hardik Pandya is set to be sidelined from action for at least two more months.

Hardik Pandya sustained an ankle injury while stopping the ball off his own bowling. The all-rounder lost his balance and dragged his right boot, landing awkwardly on the pitch. As a result, he was ruled out of the remaining matches in the ongoing marquee tournament.

Hardik Pandya Unlikely To Be Part Of South Africa Tour – Report

Hardik Pandya was expected to lead the India side, as he has been serving as India’s T20I captain for almost a year. However, his injury forced him to be unavailable for selection. According to The Indian Express, Pandya is unlikely to recover before the South Africa tour.

Following his injury, the Baroda-born cricketer was quickly taken to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation. The medical team is still considering whether Pandya requires surgery. He is currently undergoing a rehabilitation process at the NCA in Bengaluru.

The report further added that Pandya was asked by strength and conditioning coaches to gradually increase his bowling speed to avoid excessive pressure on his ankle. Initially, he faced no issues with the first three balls but experienced pain in his leg during the fourth delivery.
