Gurjapneet Singh not injured?
On April 18, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced that the 26-year-old left-arm pacer Gurjapneet Singh has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2025 due to an injury.
The Tamil Nadu seamer was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 2.2 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction and didn't get the opportunity to play any matches for the team.
CSK decided to replace him in the squad with the young South African batter Dewald Brevis, and the decision surprised many. Brevis was roped in by the 5-time champions for INR 2.2 crore.
Notably, Brevis was the second replacement signing for CSK after they had roped in Ayush Mhatre a few days back as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had suffered an elbow fracture.
Meanwhile, there is more to the story involving Gurjapneet Singh, as he was seen bowling in an intra-squad match organized by the Chennai Super Kings on April 23, revealed an X user who attended the match.
The X user named Vinoth Kumar shared several pictures and videos from the practice match, and he confirmed that Gurjapneet Singh was not only bowling with full intensity but also doing fielding as well.
This development didn't go well with the fans, and they slammed the Chennai Super Kings, with many calling them cheaters and demanding a ban on them for faking injury.

We have not been performing up to the mark - CSK CEO
CSK are currently at the bottom of the Indian Premier League points table with 2 wins in 8 matches. Talking about their poor campaign, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that they will not press the panic button, instead focusing on improving.
"We have not been performing up to the mark. We are trying to improve and we will try to do well in the next few games. We have never pressed the panic button in our franchise is not like that, it is just a game," Viswanathan told PTI.
When he was asked if MS Dhoni's leadership could help CSK turn things around, he said that the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman will do whatever is right for the team to bring out a good performance.
"See, it's not the question of anybody. It's a question that the team should do well and not just one individual. We don't talk to the team management. Dhoni will do what is right for the team. What we are expecting as administrators is good performance by the team and we don't criticise our team at all," he added.
