Fans on X reacted after the Bangladesh Cricket Team thumped Afghanistan by 89 runs in the Asia Cup 2023 clash at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side also made sure that they remained alive in the tournament and kept an eye on the Super 4 stage. 

Bangladesh opted to bat first and had a great outing in the first innings. They batted aggressively and piled up a mammoth target on the board. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was promoted up the order, cashed in the opportunity and slammed a magnificent ton. 

Mehidy Hasan scored 112 runs whereas Najmul Hossain Shanto slammed 104 runs as the duo stitched 194 runs partnership to take the game away from the opposition. Mushfiqur Rahim (25) and captain Shakib Al Hasan (32*) then finished the innings on high as Bangladesh posted a mammoth total of 334 runs on the board. 

Afghanistan had a shaky start as they lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz early. But Ibrahim Zadran slammed a vital 75-run knock to keep their side in the game. Rahmat Shah also chipped in with 33 runs knock as well to keep the hopes of Afghanistan fans alive. 

Hashmatullah Shahidi also slammed a vital half-century. But after that, Afghanistan tumbled and lost wickets in clusters. They were reduced from 193/4 to 245 for all out. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers as he picked the four-wicket haul. Shoriful Islam also bagged three wickets as they bundled out the opposition for a low total to win the game by 89 runs.
