BAN vs AFG: 'Furious' Rahmat Shah Charges At Hasan Mahmud After Pacer Angrily Throws Ball At The Batter

Things got heated during the Asia Cup 2023 clash between the Afghanistan National Cricket Team and the Bangladesh National Cricket Team when Hasan Mahmud angrily threw the ball at Rahmat Shah.

The Match No.4 of the Asia Cup 2023 is seeing the battle between Group B teams – Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan National Cricket Team and Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team – at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, September 3.

The incident happened in the 7th over of the Afghanistan innings during the run-chase. On the second ball of the 7th over, the 23-year-old pacer delivered a fullish length delivery to Rahmat Shah and the batter drove it back to the bowler. Mahmud quickly gathered the ball and threw it straight back at the batter, who evaded it.

Shah was understandably furious and disappointed with the bowler’s gesture and he was seen saying some words while charging towards the Bangladesh player. However, Mahmud avoided any argument with Shah and he kept walking back to his run-up without an apology. The on-field umpire also intervened and had a word with Shah.

Rahmat Shah played a decent knock and got out in the 18th over, which was bowled by Taskin Ahmed, while playing an uncharacteristic shot. He scored 33 runs off 57 balls, before walking back to the hut.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. They posted a good total of 334/5 on the board, thanks to the sensational centuries from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was promoted to open the innings, and in-form batter Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Afghanistan’s bowling unit struggled against the Bangladesh batters in the innings with most of the bowlers conceding runs at an economy of over 6. Also, the star leg-spinner Rashid Khan went wicketless in the match and gave away 66 runs.
