Afghanistan star Mujeeb Ur Rahman, on Saturday (October 7), forgot to wear his abdomen guard when he came out to bat against Bangladesh in the third match of the ongoing 2023 World Cup in Dharamsala.

Perhaps even he was not expecting to bat so early in the innings and that could be one of the reasons why he forgot the abdomen guard or the box. Mujeeb Ur Rahman had to walk out in the 35th over after Afghanistan lost the wicket of Rashid Khan.

The quick fall of wickets perhaps took Mujeeb Ur Rahman by surprise and he ended up forgetting to wear the all-important box. By the time he realized his mistake, he was already in the middle of the field. And as he called his teammate to give him the abdomen guard, the Bangladesh players could not control their laughter. Even the commentators were laughing as Mujeeb Ur Rahman sheepishly waited for the guard.

Afghanistan all out for a modest total:

Talking about the game, Afghanistan were all out for a modest total of 156 against Bangladesh in Dharamsala. Asked to bat first, Afghanistan’s innings lasted only 37.2 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave them a good start by adding 47 runs for the opening wicket. But once captain Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Zadran for 22, the floodgates opened.

Afghanistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals from that stage and were eventually all out for 156. Gurbaz was the top-scorer with 47 runs while Zadran (22) and Azmatullah Omarzai (22) were the only other batters to cross the 20-run mark. As many as six players failed to even reach the double-digit mark. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up three wickets each while Shoriful Islam claimed two.

In reply, Bangladesh have also made a shaky start with the bat. At the time of writing this report, they were on 47 for 2 in the 11th over with both of their openers back in the hut.
