BAN vs AFG: Watch - Mujeeb Ur Rahman Knocks Over Mohammad Naim With A Jaffa In Asia Cup 2023

The 22-year-old star Afghanistan National Cricket Team spin bowler Mujeeb Ur Rahman castled the 24-year-old Bangladesh National Cricket Team top-order batsman Mohammad Naim with a beauty on Sunday, September 3.

Match No.4 of the Asia Cup 2023 is seeing the battle between Group B teams – Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan National Cricket Team and Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team – at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. They handed an ODI debut to all-rounder Shamim Hossein while making three changes to their team. Shamim Hossein, Afif Hossein, and Hasan Mahmud replaced Tanzid Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman in the playing XI.

Meanwhile, opening the innings for Bangladesh, Mohammad Naim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided their side with a good start in the match. The batters made full use of the poor execution from Afghan bowlers and scored runs at a good rate.

The duo added 60 runs in 60 balls, before the dismissal of Naim in the 10th over. On the last ball of the 10th over, Mujeeb delivered a perfect googly to Naim that pitched outside off-stump, and the batter lunged forward to defend for the angle, but the ball went past his outside edge and rattled the stumps.

Naim scored 28 runs off 32 balls, with 5 fours, before getting dismissed. Overall, his numbers in ODIs are extremely poor as he has registered scores of 16, 0, 9, 1 and 28.

This is Afghanistan’s first match of the 2023 edition of the continental tournament and a must-win game for Bangladesh as a loss on Sunday will knock them out of the tournament. Bangladesh played their first match against Sri Lanka and lost by 5 wickets with 66 balls remaining.
