BAN vs SL Scorecard, 2nd ODI Highlights: Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka help Sri Lanka level ODI series 1-1

Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team were up against each other in the second game of the three-match ODI series after the entertaining first game. The game between the two teams took place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday (14th January). 

The series started in the favour of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team as they began the proceedings on high. However, the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team made sure that they made a comeback in the second game and leveled the series. The Island nation won the game by a margin of 3 wickets and made sure the game through to the decider. 

BAN vs SL Scorecard, 2nd ODI: Bangladesh innings – Towhid Hridoy, and Soumya Sarkar play vital roles with bat for Bangladesh 

Bangladesh were off to a poor start with the bat as they lost Litton Das for a three-ball duck to Dilshan Madushanka. However, after that, Soumya Sarkar and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto held the fort for the team with their vital knocks with the bat. 

They added 75 runs together before Najmul Hossain Shanto perished for 40 runs. Sarkar on the other hand reached his half-century and made sure that he kept his team in the hunt. Towhid Hridoy joined the crease and the duo together added 55 runs before Sarkar fell for 68 runs.

Towhid Hridoy (96*) made sure that he stayed till the end and kept Bangladesh in the hunt despite losing wickets regularly. Mushfiqur Rahim (25) also chipped in but couldn’t carry on the start that he got and perished at the crucial juncture of the game. 

Hridoy kept battling hard whereas contributions from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (12), Tanzim Hasan Sakib (18), and Taskin Ahmed (18*) powered Bangladesh to a total of 286 runs in their quota of 50 overs. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga picked four wickets whereas Dilshan Madushanka picked two wickets as well.

BAN vs SL Scorecard, 2nd ODI – Sri Lanka innings: Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka help Sri Lanka level the series 

Sri Lanka was off to e poor start with the bat as well. They lost Avishka Fernando for a golden duck. After that skipper, Kusal Mendis (16) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (1) lost their wickets too as Bangladesh reduced the opposition to 43/3. 

But Pathum Nissanka (114) and Charith Asalanka (91) brought Sri Lanka back in the game and put Bangladesh under pressure. They made a mockery of the opposition bowling lineup with their sensational batting and didn’t put a foot wrong. 

They added 185 runs together and made sure that Sri Lanka got close to the target. While Pathum Nissanka slammed a brilliant century, Charith Asalanka fell short of just 9 runs of the milestone. After that, Bangladesh picked wickets early and were back in the game again.

But Wanindu Hasaranga (25) and Dunith Wellalage (15*) joined hands and made sure that they take team to win. Sri Lanka chased the target inside 48 overs and won the game by 3 wickets.
