Bangladesh have announced the squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The Bangla Tigers have been in their best form in recent times, beating Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series, followed by defeating them in the ODI series as well, winning it 2-1, and then defeating Australia in the ODI series at home for the first time in their history.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s side lost the T20I series against the Aussies, but they will be looking to turn things around. Ahead of the Zimbabwe ODI matches, Litton Kumar Das declared fit after recovering from a calf injury. The veteran batter has been ruled out of the Test series and the T20I series. But as per reports from Cricbuzz, Litton Das is set to feature for the 50-over format.
He will be fit before the ODIs- Habibul Bashar on Litton Das' return to ODI squad
The wicket-keeper batter sustained the injury during the ODI series against Australia in Dhaka and thus missed the T20I series against Bangladesh, as Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan replaced him in the Test squad. There were availability issues for Litton Das; however, he has resumed training at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and is expected to be fit in time.
"It is a huge relief that he is back. Our physio is confident that he will be fit before the ODIs, considering he is an integral part of our all-format set-up," BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar told Cricbuzz on Thursday. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) granted permission to Litton Das and pacer Taskin Ahmed No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to take part in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Bangladesh eyes another historic milestone
The tour of Zimbabwe will begin with a one-off Test match on June 28 to July 2 at the historic Harare Sports Club. Following the completion of the longest format, the emphasis will shift to the 50-over format. The three ODIs will all be played at the Harare Sports Club.
The T20Is, scheduled for July 6, 9, and 11, will also be played at the Harare Sports Club. All matches are scheduled to commence at 1:30 PM Bangladesh Standard Time. BCB stated that the first batch of Test squad members will leave Dhaka on June 21, while others will join the touring team later.
