Bangladesh is all set to host Australia for a multi-format series this month, starting on June 9 through a 3-match ODI series. The host nation announced its squad for the opening two matches of the series on the evening of June 3.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) retains most of its players from the previous ODI series, which was against New Zealand. Bangladesh defeated the Blackcaps by 2-1 in the contest.

For the first two ODIs against Australia, BCB has named Mehidy Hasan Miraz as their captain. Following the ODI series, Bangladesh will also play three T20Is against Australia starting June 17. The ODI series will start on June 9, following the second match on June 11, and the 3rd and final match of the contest will be on June 14. All of the three ODIs will be hosted in Dhaka.
After the inclusion of the ODI series, Bangladesh and Australia will face each other for a three-match T20I competition, which will be held from June 17 to June 21 in Chattogram.

BCB keeps its core team untouched for the high-profile contest
In the 15-member squad, BCB has retained 13 from their previous ODI series, which was against the Kiwis. The bowling attack of the home team looks very exciting on paper in the presence of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.
Rana was lethal against the New Zealand cricket team, taking 8 wickets in 30 overs, including a couple of maidens. 5/32 was the best figure of the pacer against the Kiwis. Bangladesh cricket team and their fans will expect to see such fiery spells again from Nahid Rana. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam bring variety and balance to the bowling part of the team.
There are two additions in the squad. Mosaddek Hossain Saikot makes a return to the Bangladesh fold after four years. The 30-year-old right-handed batter last played for the national side in an ODI in August 2022. Along with Saikot, keeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan also makes his return in the squad after missing out on the New Zealand series.
It is going to be a historic bilateral series between these two teams as the Australian cricket team will play a bilateral ODI series in Bangladesh for the first time in 15 years. Last time they toured was in 2011.
