Bangladesh is part of Group B. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the other two teams in the same group. India, Pakistan, and Nepal are the other three teams in Asia Cup 2023. They are members of Group A.

Bangladesh will play their first match of Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on August 31. The venue of the clash is Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. They will later face Afghanistan on September 3 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Hence, Bangladesh will play their first match in Sri Lanka and the second match in Pakistan. Sri Lanka and Pakistan are both co-hosts of the tournament. Hence, all the games will be played across these two nations.

Bangladesh has never won any Asia Cup trophy. However, they finished as runners-up in a few editions. Bangladesh ended as runners-up in the 2012, 2016, and 2018 editions.

Last year, Bangladesh failed to come up with a good show in Asia Cup. They lost both the group stage matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. As a result, they failed to reach the super four round and were eliminated from the first round itself.

Asia Cup 2023 Pakistan Captain And Vice-Captain

Shakib Al Hasan is the captain of Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023. Tamim Iqbal was the ODI skipper earlier. However, he announced his retirement just before the tournament. Hence, selectors appointed Shakib Al Hasan as the new ODI skipper. Litton Das is the vice-captain of the team in the tournament.
