Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of IPL 2026 with a groin injury, the franchise reported on Friday.
Mavi, a right-arm medium pacer, was yet to play any matches for the franchise in IPL 2026. In fact, he has not played any IPL matches since 2022. Mavi has had a history of struggling with injuries, which have hampered his career.
After going unsold in IPL 2025, Mavi was picked by SRH for his base price of INR 75 lakh in 2026.
Shivam Mavi replaced by RS Ambrish
Ambrish is a bowling all-rounder from Tamil Nadu who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace. Ambrish was also a part of the Indian team that had won the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.
In that tournament, he took 11 wickets from 7 matches and was India's joint-highest wicket-taker. He will join SRH at his base price of INR 30 lakh.

Earlier this year, Ambrish made his First Class debut for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy.
Shivam Mavi career
Just like his replacement, Mavi too has been an Under-19 World Cup winner. Mavi was part of the Indian side led by Prithvi Shaw that won the tournament in 2018.
His ability to generate pace even at that young age impressed Kolkata Knight Riders enough to shell out INR 3 crore for him that year.
Between 2018 and 2022, Mavi took 30 wickets in 32 matches for the three-time champions. In early 2023, he got to make his T20I debut for India.
On debut, Shivam Mavi took a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka becoming just the third Indian player to take a four-wicket haul on T20I debut. In his next five matches though, he only took three wickets and hasn't played for India since.

In 2023, Gujarat Titans had signed him for INR 6 crore, but did not play him in any matches. The next year, he joined Lucknow Super Giants for INR 6.4 crores but a rib injury ruled him out.
SRH next match
Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Kolkata Knight Riders in Hyderabad on May 3. SRH have already beat KKR in this year's tournament once before.
The return of regular skipper Pat Cummins has emboldened their bowling attack, which in turn has resulted in them currently being on a five-match winning streak.
SRH are currently placed third on the points table while KKR are eighth. The 2016 champions will arguably favour their chances to extend the win-streak to six matches in a row.
