Former Bangladesh captain and current Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal has hailed the Tigers’ historic nine-wicket win over Australia in the first Test at Darwin as one of the biggest moments in the country’s Test cricket history.
Tamim has showered rich praise on the Bangladesh National Cricket Team after they defeated the top-ranked Test side—the Australia National Cricket Team—in the first Test. The victory became even more special because Bangladesh had not played a Test series in Australia since 2003.

The BCB president Tamim Iqbal has now reacted to Bangladesh’s historic win over Australia. Tamim believes that the nine-wicket triumph over Australia in Darwin sent a strong message to the cricket world and could go down as the greatest win in Bangladesh cricket history.
The former skipper was especially impressed by Bangladesh’s fast-bowling attack. He also hailed the batters and said that this unbelievable victory made him really proud of his team. Amid this, Marnus Labuschagne, Jake Weatherald likely to be dropped for 2nd Test vs Bangladesh.
Tamim Iqbal was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “It's not just a win; it's a message to the world, possibly the greatest ever win in Bangladesh cricket history. And the fast-bowling unit—I think a lot of credit must go to this fast-bowling unit because of them, we are getting into a situation where we have a chance. And obviously the batsmen did exceptionally well in this tour; I'm very happy and very proud.”

Recalling the conversation with the Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto before the Australia tour, the former captain shared that the players were already confident of beating the Kangaroos on their home soil, and they did it in style.
He was really happy with the Tigers’ historic triumph. The BCB President further shared, “I remember a conversation between the captain and me, where the captain came up to me and said that when he had a conversation with his team and they believed they could win, I still remember that he came to me and he said that the team believes that we can win.”
Tamim signed off by saying, “I said, “Absolutely, why not? It's going to be difficult; it's difficult for a lot of big teams there, but if the team believes, you can't ask anything more, and that belief became a reality. What else can I ask?”
