The World Championship of Legends (WCL) is all set to take the stage again after two successful seasons. This time, the league is expected to be bigger and better, with multiple stars making their comebacks on the green canvas through the tournament.

Former Australia opener David Warner and former South Africa keeper-batter AB de Villiers are confirmed to play in the league for their respective teams. Alongside Warner and de Villiers, there will be legends of the game like Yuvraj Singh, Dwayne Bravo, David Warner, and Moeen Ali.

World Championship of Legends Season 3 set to start on October 3

Through an official press release on August 17, the organizers of WCL confirmed the duration of the league. The third edition of the World Championship of Legends will start on October 3 and will run until October 18, with the grand finale.

In this league, legends from past generations from various nations put on the gear again to display their class and to gift more memorable moments to the worldwide cricket fans. The time frame of the league is confirmed, but the venues are yet to be disclosed. Squads are also to be announced in the upcoming days.

Bangladesh Champions will be the latest addition to the World Championship of Legends

In the inaugural season of the competition. India Champions claimed the trophy, defeating the Pakistan Champions. In the second edition. Pakistan Champions reached the final again but went down against the South Africa Champions.

After a massive viewership in the previous two seasons, the third edition will be hosted. For the upcoming season, a team with the Bangladesh cricket legends, named Bangladesh Champions, has already been added to the contest.

“Following two record-breaking seasons, WCL 2026 will have more star power, more intensity, more national pride and more unforgettable cricketing moments. The third season has already added Bangladesh Champions to the tournament,” the official press release reads.

The Founder & CEO of the World Championship of Legends, Harshit Tomar, in an official statement, mentioned that this time they will arrange the tournament outside the United Kingdom as they are planning to surprise the fans. Tomar confirmed that in the third edition, they will bring the biggest names in cricket, which the fans are not expecting to watch on the ground.

“Season 3 is going to be very special. We will be moving out of the UK for this season and giving surprises to all our fans. We promise to bring the biggest names in cricket, the biggest stars the fans could ever think about for Season 3,” Harshit Tomar stated.

World Championship of Legends got 425 million viewership in the previous season

Harshit also informed that in Season 2, they attracted a record-breaking 425 million viewers, which has encouraged them to make the tournament bigger and better with more ambition.

“After reaching 425 million viewers worldwide in Season 2, WCL enters its third season with greater momentum and an even bigger ambition — to create the ultimate celebration of cricket's greatest eras and its most unforgettable icons," he added.
