Australia women’s national cricket team superstar Ellyse Perry has given a big compliment to her Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate Smriti Mandhana, who is also the vice-captain of the India women’s national cricket team.
Perry and Mandhana know each other well after spending the last three years together at the RCB in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The two stars were also recently involved in The Hundred 2026, with Mandhana playing for the Manchester Super Giants and Perry leading the Birmingham Phoenix. Amid this, Charlie Dean named new England Women’s captain for Ireland ODIs, full squad announced.
Ellyse Perry hails Smriti Mandhana’s strong mindset behind her success
Ellyse Perry believes that Mandhana’s success is not only because of her batting talent. She feels the Indian opener has a very strong mindset and works hard to keep improving her game.
The Australian all-rounder has further mentioned that Mandhana has excellent skills, strong determination and a clear understanding of herself. Her preparation, thinking and willingness to take on difficult challenges have all played a big role in making her one of the leading women’s batters.
Ellyse Perry was quoted as saying by JioStar, "What makes Smriti so successful? Her amazing skill. I think she’s got incredible willpower and a super-strong mind, from the way she approaches the game, the way she prepares, the way she knows herself, the way she thinks about things, and the way that she likes challenges. She’s got it all.”
Ellyse Perry excited for inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy
Perry also shared her excitement about the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, which will be played in Sri Lanka in February 2027. The mega event will feature six teams — Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and hosts Sri Lanka.
