"I am not worried about my batting position. The spot I am batting in right now, I feel very confident there," said Shamim. "Whenever I go out to bat, my plan is to stay positive. Someone has to take risks, and I want to take that responsibility for the team," the young cricketer made an amazing claim.
Bangladesh batsman places himself equal to AB de Villiers

Amid the current T20 series played between subcontinental sides Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, a Bangladeshi batter has come forward and mentioned former South African legend AB de Villiers as his icon in world cricket.
The batter reflected on the positive approach of the former RCBian and indicated his desire to follow in his footsteps, to be a finisher like AB de Villiers someday. It's none other than Bangladesh's hero from the 2nd T20 match against Sri Lanka, Shamim Hossain, who played a stunning role with the bat.
Bangladesh batter to follow the footsteps of idol AB de Villiers
Cricket has always been a game of inspiration, and a player of AB de Villiers' caliber has inspired several generations during his playing days and still continues to do so with his inspirational remarks.
Coming to the Bangladesh batter, Shamim Hossain's innings came under pressure in the lower order since, much like ABD himself, the batter comes in to bat at no. 6. The batter then claimed that he is happy with his position and adores AB de Villiers as his icon.
"I like AB de Villiers' batting, and I always try to stay positive like him. T20 cricket is all about staying positive, and I feel that if I stay positive, I will do well," added the Bangladeshi youngster.
AB de Villiers' extensive stats in international cricket
The South African legend made his debut for the Proteas back in 2004 as a 20-year-old wicket-keeper batsman. Since Mark Boucher was the main glovesman in the side, de Villiers played most of his career as a specialist batter in the middle order.
He has featured in 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78 T20 internationals for South Africa and went on to score 20000+ runs in his international career that spanned from his debut in 2004 to his retirement announced in 2018.
AB de Villiers has numerous wicket-keeping as well as batting records to his name, while the batter also had a great impact in the IPL playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Shamim show in the 2nd T20 vs Sri Lanka
Just like the ODI series, Bangladesh again came from behind to win the second T20I against Sri Lanka. Though they had lost the ODI series, they would be aiming for a win in the T20 series for sure.
They have earned a comprehensive victory over the host side by a huge margin of 83 runs. Batting first, Bangladesh posted 177 as skipper Litton Das led from the front with a 50-ball 76, and the jolt to the innings was from a quickfire innings by Shamim Hossain, who played a blistering knock of 48 off just 27 balls.
"First of all, we won the match, and that is the most pleasing thing. Now the series is level at 1-1, so this win was important for us," Shamim told reporters after the game. "Now we have the chance to win the series, and hopefully, if we play well, we will win it," Shamim reflected on his positive attitude with the team.
