Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been in the headlines for its recent removal from the 2026 T20 World Cup after they continued to maintain their stance to change their venue from India to Sri Lanka, citing security reasons. They were removed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), replacing them with Scotland.

As per Geo Super’s sources, Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Aminul Islam is now travelling to Pakistan to attend the emergency ICC meeting, which is expected to be held virtually today. As per the reports, the apex body is expected to have an emergency meeting via video link today to discuss the uncertainty surrounding the blockbuster ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 fixture of India vs Pakistan.

Bangladesh Cricket Board and Pakistan to attend the meeting

The Pakistan government, during its participation announcement of the T20 World Cup, also announced that they will not be featuring against India. The national government did this to showcase the solidarity of Bangladesh’s removal from the World Cup, as they were the only nation to support the neighbouring country. Pakistan Cricket Board has not submitted any formal notice to the ICC regarding this matter.

In today’s meeting, except for PCB, the emergency meeting is likely to be attended by other board members of the council, including those from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The source also reports that Aminul Islam will also meet Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and before he returns to Bangladesh in the evening after attending the meeting.

ICC to find solution for India vs Pakistan

The ICC was supposed to have a meeting due to the ongoing fiasco surrounding the India vs Pakistan match. As they are exploring options to change Pakistan’s decision and to reconsider its stance on the T20 World Cup 2026 fixture against India. India vs Pakistan has always been a blockbuster fixture for the ICC and the host nations.

The game generates double the revenue of any other ICC match. As per reports, ICC Deputy Chairman has been assigned the responsibility of initiating the talks with PCB on the matter. As there are reports that PCB has demanded certain things in order to resume the fixture, after Sri Lanka cricket sent an official email to PCB requesting to play the game.

Pakistan's Prime Minister demands the removal of politics from cricket

Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has asked for the removal of politics from sports by backing the decision taken by the federal government to bar the Pakistan team from taking the field against arch-rivals India in the ongoing major ICC event.

Pakistan has demanded three things to get more funding from ICC, as they already receive the fourth-highest share, after India, England, and Australia, which is an amount around USD 34.5 million. They also want ICC to start off the bilateral series, which has been stopped since 2013.

PCB has also asked ICC to resume the handshake with Pakistan players to keep the spirit of the game, which the Indian stopped after the Palgham terror attack last year. All eyes are now on the ICC to find a resolution for the India vs Pakistan match. However, if the match does not happen, PCB has to face serious consequences from ICC.
