Bangladesh National Cricket Team T20I captain Litton Das has found himself in the middle of a major controversy after being called by the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) disciplinary committee. Litton Das was asked to appear before the Bangladesh Cricket Board after he was accused of breaking the rules set for centrally contracted players.

The shocking development has raised many eyebrows because Litton is currently recovering from an injury. Well, despite being the Bangladesh captain, he will not receive special treatment in this matter. Amid this, India's Bangladesh tour 2026 nears approval, and Afghanistan T20Is are set to be rescheduled.

Litton Das was expected to travel to Singapore on July 20 to get his calf injury checked by specialists. The injury had already forced him to miss Bangladesh's recent T20I series against Zimbabwe and also ruled him out of the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026.

The star batter suffered a calf injury during the ODI series against Australia at home. He later missed the Test series before joining the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for the ODI series in Zimbabwe. However, he could not recover fully and returned home before the T20I series.

Amid this, Litton has found himself in a big controversy, as the T20I captain reportedly travelled to China after returning from Zimbabwe, and that too without informing the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Litton Das' China visit leaves BCB unimpressed!

This left the BCB officials, who were unaware of his travel plans and had no clear update on his injury or medical condition, frustrated and forced them to take serious note of the development.

A BCB source was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “He (Litton) went to China, which the board didn't take well. The board called him and asked him why and with whose permission he went to China.”

As Litton is a centrally contracted player, the Bangladesh Cricket Board considered the matter a possible violation of its Code of Conduct. Because of this, the BCB called him for a disciplinary hearing on Sunday to explain his actions.

During the meeting, Litton Das reportedly shared his side of the story. The board is now checking his statement with its medical committee before taking a final decision.

The BCB director Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir has confirmed that Litton gave his statement during the hearing, and now the board is set to talk with the ‘medical committee' and 'cross-check the whole matter'. However, the director felt that whatever the star batter said was only "truth."

Alamgir also pointed out that the Bangladeshi skipper has been playing for a long time, and he doesn't have that many disciplinary issues in his career. He stated, “I think he is a little bit frustrated as he couldn't play the Sri Lankan T20 League (Lanka Premier League).”

BCB sends a strong warning to all contracted players

The BCB director further explained, “There was just a communication gap. This is not something that is intentional or some sort of a violation, but even after there is a communication gap, he still has breached the contract. We have to do something about it, even if it is a small thing, so that he is aware in the future.”

He added, “We want this message to go to the players so that they follow the rules and regulations properly. You can say that the board will not tolerate indiscipline from any players. Doesn't matter how big of a player he is. I have told Litton not to take this personally. Through this we want to give a clear message to the players regarding our stance on disciplinary issues.”
