Bangladesh National Cricket Team assistant coach Nic Pothas opened up about why the players from his side are unable to hit sixes in the ongoing T20I series against the India National Cricket Team. He said that they don't have strong players but are working on that aspect.

Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be facing India National Cricket Team in the last game of the three-match series. The final match of the series between the teams will be played on Saturday (12th October) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The series has already been won by the Indian team after their two staggering performances in the two games in Guwahati and Delhi. One of the reasons behind the series loss for the Bangladesh National Cricket Team has been their batting, which has struggled to get going in both games.

Bangladesh have managed just 8 sixes in series so far

Bangladesh batters have looked completely clueless and have failed to score runs. One of the major reasons behind India being ahead in the series is because of the number of sixes they have. They have slammed 22 sixes in two games while the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side have managed just 8 sixes, which speaks a lot about their poor effort.

Bangladesh batters, too, have mentioned that they are not used to batting on tracks, where scores go around 180-190. They have expressed their desire to get pitches like these at home, saying that they are used to playing on tracks where 140-150 runs are scored.

We are working on our strength and conditioning, but you can’t fight genetics - Bangladesh assistant coach Nic Pothas

While talking about the six-hitting inability of players, Nic Pothas mentioned that India have stronger players, but they are working on their strength and conditioning. He admitted that although timing and technique are important, they cannot fight genetics. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“They have much stronger players. We are working on our strength and conditioning, but you can’t fight genetics. If one player weighs 95-100 kg and another is 65 kg, naturally the heavier player will hit the ball further. Of course, timing and technique are important, and we are constantly working on those aspects,”

Comparing India’s six-hitting with ours is like comparing how many sixes the West Indies hit compared to us - Nic Pothas

Nic Pothas pointed out how Indian players arrive battle-ready on the international stage because of the Indian Premier League. He said that comparing the six abilities of Indian players with them is like comparing them with West Indies. He added:

"You also have to look at the IPL. It’s the best competition in the world, with top-quality players. The IPL prepares players for the international stage. Comparing India’s six-hitting with ours is like comparing how many sixes the West Indies hit compared to us,”

The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led have a very young team of players who are still trying to get their feet going in international cricket. They would be keen to end the series on high by winning the last match.
