Afghanistan will be up against Bangladesh in the second of the three-match ODI series. This article provides details about Bangladesh's Playing 11 vs Afghanistan for the second match of the series.
Bangladesh Playing XI vs Afghanistan- 2nd ODI, Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 2025:
Openers: Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Saif Hassan
Bangladesh has no option other than winning the second ODI against Afghanistan, having lost the first ODI by five wickets.
The visitors would be rueing the fact that they were in a strong position to post an above-par total on the board after losing three wickets early, courtesy of a century stand between Towhid Hridoy and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Despite the partnership that revived the team, Bangladesh were bowled out for just 221 runs, which resulted in them losing the game.
The team management would want the batters to put on a better show, and the onus will be on the openers to get the team off to a good start for that to happen.
This opening pair of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hassan failed to build a solid partnership for the first wicket and would aim to do so in the upcoming match.
As far as individual contribution from both batters is concerned, Tamim was dismissed early, while Hassan threw his wicket away after getting off to a start.
The two would hope to correct that and make a significant contribution, and lay a platform for the incoming batters in the process.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c), Jaker Ali (wk), Nurul Hasan
The story of the entire Bangladeshi batting lineup was the same, as the majority of the batters got out after getting set, something which they would like to correct in the second ODI.
The likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Jaker Ali, and Nurul Hasan would look to score big to help the team post a competitive total while batting first.
The only shining light in an otherwise disappointing batting performance was the partnership between Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The pair would like to build on that, but would also want the top order batters to provide them a good start.
Bowlers: Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam
Like the batters, the visitors would want the fast bowlers to up their game and restrict the opposition batters from scoring freely, especially in the first ten overs, which wasn't the case in the opening game of the three-match series.
Having said that, the spinners were able to pull things back in the middle overs by picking wickets at regular intervals and were well supported by fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Despite the best efforts from Tanvir Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the Bengal Tigers were unable to restrict Afghanistan from getting over the line.
One of the major reasons for that was the lack of runs on the board, and the Mehiday Hasan Miraz-led side would bank on their batters to score big in order to post a challenging total on the board in the second match.
