Bangladesh and Pakistan will start their 2027 ODI World Cup preparation with a three-match ODI series starting from March 11, 2026, Wednesday. Bangladesh has not played a single ODI match since last October, when they hosted the West Indies. All three matches of Pakistan’s ODI tour to Bangladesh will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka.

Pakistan have yet again gone for a revamp on their side, after their dismal show in the recently concluded 2026 T20 World Cup. The Men in Green would bring in a new side with big players like Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Shadab Khan being dropped from the ODI squad. Shaheen Shah Afridi will be leading a new, inexperienced side in this tour.

Bangladesh have a strong batting line-up with experienced batters, and they will field their best XI in the first game against Pakistan. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz would be looking to lead the side well in the first game.

Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar would be given the responsibility to give Bangladesh a good start. The two openers need to take the opportunity to score runs as quickly as possible during the field restrictions in the first 10 overs.

Sahibzada Farhan and Shamyl Hussain will be making their ODI debut. However, the former has been in excellent form in the T20 World Cup 2026, finishing as the leading run getter with 383 runs. Though it is a different format, he has no prior international experience of playing this format.

Middle Order Batters and All-Rounders: Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Ali Agha, Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Saad Masood

The Pakistan middle order is relatively new, with only Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha having the experience of playing the ODI format. The other batters and the all-rounders would be watchful on a pitch that is slow and not easy to bat on. The two veterans would have to take the responsibility to score runs in the middle overs.

Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi (c), Haris Rauf, Faisal Akram, Abrar Ahmed

Shaheen Afridi will not only lead the bowling attack, but also have to do the captaincy as well. As he would need his bowlers to perform and pick quick wickets, and make the bowling changes well, so that the home side does not post a big total. Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed, the two experienced campaigners, will look to pick wickets in the middle overs and death overs, respectively.
