Shakib Al Hasan is all set to lead Bangladesh Cricket Team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The all-rounder is quite pivotal to the team’s success and would be hoping that the team doesn’t have a tournament similar to T20 World Cup 2021 where they were completely outplayed.
BCB has taken a bold decision to not include Mahmudullah in the T20 World Cup 2022. BCB would be hoping that Shakib can guide the team in a tough phase as earlier Zimbabwe had defeated Bangladesh and in the recently concluded New Zealand tri Series, the team wasn’t able to win a single match.

Shakib Retains ICC Rankings
Shakib Al Hasan is back at the No.1 ranking in T20I ICC Men’s All-rounder Rankings. The all-rounder has gone past Afghanistan’s all-rounder Mohammed Nabi and now Shakib has 266 points to his name. It would be interesting to see whether Bangladesh continues its recently adopted fearless approach.

Stern Test for Bangladesh
Bangladesh is placed in a precarious group of India, Pakistan, and South Africa( and the other two teams from Qualifiers). It looks unlikely that the team can qualify for the semi-final stage. The problem with Bangladesh is that they don’t have effective power hitters present in the team and as clearing the fence in Australia is not going to be easy by any means.
Bangladesh fans would be hopeful that the team takes a leaf out of the 2015 World Cup (held in Australia) where the team had reached the knock-out stage for the first time in ICC events.
