Bangladesh’s All Rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a major doubt for Bangladesh’s Tour of Newzealand next month due to injury concerns and also some personal responsibilities. Shakib Al Hasan has returned with a bang to international cricket after a period of a 1-year ban for failing to report corruption approaches. His comeback series against West Indies yielded him as the man of the series for scoring 113 runs and picking up 6 wickets.
On the final ODI, Shakib was limping off the field with a groin problem and did not complete his bowling quota. It was worrying signs for Bangladesh with an important series coming for them against Newzealand. If the injury gets worse, he could be on the verge of missing out on the tour to Newzealand where Bangladesh have never won against Newzealand. Also, he is expecting his childbirth soon, and he could be heading to the United States to take care of his wife according to media reports.
Injury Not Looking Good For Shakib Al Hasan
The injury concerns for Shakib Al Hasan has not helped Bangladesh’s cause as they have a very poor record in the nation. Shakib also wasn’t sure that he will recover in before the series against Newzealand. Bangladesh will be hoping to put a good performance as they did in the home series against West Indies where they won it 3-0 convincingly.
Shakib when asked about injury admitted that he needs to wait at least a day before making an assessment on his availability for the New Zealand series. Shakib also told that there is still two more tests to go in the series against West Indies and any decision on the injury will be taken by him after the tests get over. Shakib was very instrumental in Bangladesh winning the home series and he will be the much-needed boost before the Newzealand Series.
An Important Series For Bangladesh
Bangladesh have never won against New Zealand in New Zealand and this will be tested for the confident looking Bangladesh side to make it big in the three One Day Internationals and three T20 internationals. The first ODI starts on the 13th of March and extends up to the end of March.
